Kanye West Yeezus Album

Kanye West Yeezus Album

  • May 18, 2013 Yeezus is the darkest, most extreme music Kanye has ever cooked up, an extravagantly abrasive album full of grinding electro, pummeling minimalist hip-hop, drone-y wooz and industrial gear-grind.
  • These are the immeasurably lofty stakes Kanye deals in on Yeezus, his sixth solo album. His intensity here has a heightened desperation as he howls into the void, but the Chicago native has always.

Kanye West has caused some to question the reason for his album being titled 'Yeezus,' and now the 36-year-old rapper is revealing his reasoning for doing so.

West's 'Yeezus' album is due for a June 18 release and features songs like 'I am God.' The fact that the album title rhymes with the word Jesus has caused some to raise their eyebrows and sparked outrage in the Christian community.

However, West said he is ready to explain the thought process behind the controversial decision.

'I wanna explain something about the title Yeezus, simply put West was my slave name and Yeezus is my god name,' West said at his recent New York City listening party, according to MissInfo.tv.

In the song 'I Am God' that appears on 'Yeezus,' the rapper, whose nickname is Yeezy, seems to expand on the ideology further.

'I am a god / hurry up with my damn massage / hurry up with my damn menage / get the Porsche out the damn garage …. I am a god / even though I'm a man of God / my whole life in the hands of God / see y'all better quit playing with God … I Am God.'

The rapper made it clear that he is not concerned with the critics who may not agree with his choices for the upcoming album.

'We didn't give a (expletive) about what nobody said from the outside looking in, West said at the listening party according to missinfo.tv. 'We just wanted to make the best product possible and this is just the beginning of an entire new mentality about how to make music.'

West performed at New York City's Governor's Ball Music Festival recently, where he ranted to the crowd about not striving for commercial success with his upcoming album

'You know with this album, we ain't drop no single for radio. We ain't got no big NBA campaign or nothing like that. (Expletive), we ain't even got no cover,' West revealed to the audience at the festival during his 36th birthday weekend. 'Honestly at this point when I listen to radio, that ain't where I wanna be no more.'
