  • Collings mandolins have a hand-written serial number on the label inside the body. The table below lists serial number ranges issued into production by year. Serial numbers are assigned at the beginning of the build process, so some mandolins would have been completed and shipped in subsequent year(s).
  • Bill Collings and his team of skilled luthiers build custom handmade acoustic and electric guitars, mandolins, and ukuleles in Austin, Texas. Over the past 35 years, Collings Guitars has set the standard for quality, tone, and playability amidst a number of fine guitar companies and independent builders.

Collings Guitar Serial Numbers

Collings - dating from serial numbers Mandolin Mondays: Ruby Mae Shiels joins us from France to perform an original composition on her A style Summit mandolin. If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ by clicking the link above. On an aside, I own two of Collings' Waterloo guitars, a WL-K (inspired by a Gibson budget line Kel Kroyden) and a WL-S Deluxe ( an homage to the Stella guitars of the '20s). Built in the Collings factory in Austin TX, these guitars have less spit and polish than the regular Collings line and thus are less costly. Tone wise they're simply amazing.
